Preheat oven to 425 degrees. Place the pears, cut-side down, in a baking dish or cast iron skillet.
In a small saucepan, combine the cider, orange juice, brown sugar, butter + cinnamon. Bring to a boil over high heat and boil for 2 to 3 minutes. Remove from heat and pour over the pears.
Bake for 35 - 40 minutes, basting occasionally, until tender. Allow the pears to cool in the pan for 10 minutes.
Remove from the pan, thinly slice (avoiding the core) and place in a serving dish. Drizzle the pears with the cider mixture for a little extra sweetness.
